Q. What materials do I or my child need for beginning drum lessons?
A. The short answer is the right tools for the job. You don’t use a framing hammer to do finish work on your cabinets and using a finishing hammer to drive 20lb nails into a house frame is not a rewarding experience. The student will need:
- Sticks for both Snare Drum and Drum Set
- A good practice pad (even if they own a drum set and/or a snare drum)
- A METRONOME
- One or more recommended books depending on the student’s goals and ability.
Q. Can I buy required materials and equipment from you?
A. Yes. Andersong Music sells all the recommended material and equipment individually or in various packages of at the studio for the convience of students and parents. Please go to the Materials Page for recommendations.
Q. How long does each lesson last?
A. For most beginners and younger students a 1/2 hour lesson once a week is the general rule. Older students and adults can handle and often request a 1 hour lesson. Master Class lessons can be anywhere from 1 – 2 hours or more in length.
